-Fettering of the Light-

Behold! With the full majesty of the rainbow at her back, Iris, the Greek messenger of the gods has arrived! From the heights of Mount Olympus with lights expedience, she carries down to man a message from the gods.

Gazing in wonder at her beauty, man hears untold magnificence in her words. Her light so unfathomably brilliant, the minds and eyes of men are made blind. Blind to the truth that is her beauty. Man knows only that her wonder is fleeting and once her wisdom has been spoken, her illustrious presence will be gone. So man sets out to restrain her, to harness her wisdom, and so the tragic naivety of man is exemplified.

Man cannot see that her divinity is not to be chained, not to be fettered. Man knows not her nature. He Knows not that her divine message is not her own. If she cannot return to Mount Olympus, she cannot speak new divine wisdoms into the world of men.

Man knows her light to be pure. He knows it is to be cherished, and so the prospect of letting her go terrifies man. Her arrival brought into the world of men the wisdom and beauty of the heavens, and man doth think her departure would mean too the departure of her beautiful light.

The folly of mans ignorance cannot be told. Her fettering did not harness the light. Her trappings do not offer more insight. Trapped by the will of man, the wisdom of the heavens now has no voice.

We must endeavor to release Iris.
Only free does she speak the words of heaven.
If but by man she be unfettered,
so too her divine light will shine again.
